Kauai Fil-Am Jaycees

The Kauai Fil-Am Jaycees is a local chapter of the Hawaii Jaycees and was officially chartered into the National and Hawaii organization on March 29, 1979. Oscar Portugal was the founding president.

The Chapter was recognized in the community for their diversity in many different areas. Some of their annual projects were the Halloween Haunted House for charitable organizations, Christmas caroling island wide, and a golf tournament for the March of Dime.

The Chapter also assisted in the gathering of donations for the Mt. Pinatubo disaster in the Philippines. After Hurricane Iniki in '92, they rebuilt the bleachers and repainted dugouts at Hanamaulu Park and assisted in the building of the Kamalani Playground.
