Meet Honolulu Chinese Jaycees President Anthony Sato
The Jaycees have become an addition to my family and friends since joining in 2008. Through each new Challenge we encounter we learn more about who we are and how we can help each other create a better tomorrow.
Through the sacrifices I have made by stepping up into new positions, Vice President of Community Projects in 2009, moving up to Executive Vice President in 2010 to now taking office as the 60th President of the Honolulu Chinese Jaycee in 2011, I have learned more about both my skills and faults and how I can use them to help those around me.
From my first glance at the Jaycees, I became interested in the events that the Jaycees organized and wanted to lend a helping hand. Having a group of people to join with and help in the community became my first objective without knowing what was coming up in the near future.
Through running and organizing events as the Night in Chinatown (Chinese New Year celebration in Chinatown), Food booth at the 50th state fair, Dragon Boat Races to the Meadow Gold Healthy Baby Contest, I’ve been able to enhance the skills I use every day for work and play.
Each individual and group I have worked with in the Jaycees has taught me new skills and how to work more efficiently in this Multitasking economy we live in today. Using different forms of communication through Facebook, twitter, google docs and the use of technology helps us all in enormous ways when used correctly and efficiently.
I’m writing this letter on my flight to the US Jaycees Head Office in Tulsa, Oklahome. There I’ll be attending the Leadership Training Academy which will enhance not only my own life, but my lifelong connections from my Jaycee Career. Why not join me in getting so much out of this great organization?
The new experiences encountered in the Jaycees have taught me things about myself and skills that I will never forget. With this coming year as president I have begun to notice and learn how much of a difference you can make in other people’s lives by the little things you do every day. The choices we make in our daily lives effects those around us and can start with a friendly smile or frown that can change another’s attitude.
“Brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations” *from the Jaycee Creed*
