The RISING PHOENIX JAYCEES began in 1979 but did not become full fledged members until 1984 when the U.S. Jaycees allowed women to become full members.
During our first year as Jaycees, we grew from 30 members to 69 members and placed No. 4 in the Parade of Chapters proving to ourselves and Hawaii that we could continue our history of excellence as Jaycees. Since that time, we have been always been one of the TOP 5 Chapters in the State of Hawaii (Finished #3 in 2010).
Our success is directly proportional to the quality and caring of our officers, directors and members as well as our programs and projects. These projects have included Meals on Wheels, Clean-A-Park, Adopt-A-Home, in which the chapter adopted the Maunalani Center and visit throughout the year, running of the Rubber Duckie Race for Cerebral Palsy patients.
Besides these and other community fundraising projects, our chapter has a strong sports program of volleyball, softball, darts, as well as individual development programs such as public speaking workshops and chapter socials.

Meet Rising Phoenix President Anthony Higa

My name is Anthony Higa, I Graduated from Hawaii Pacific University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and currently working as a Registered Nurse at the Hawaii State Hospital, the state’s only forensic/psychiatric facility.
I’m a part time fitness coach for Team Beachbody, the company that makes P90X. Member of the Ala Moana Toastmasters. President of the Rising Phoenix Jaycees starting February 2011 and ending February 2012.
The reason I decided to be President for RPJ is to inspire my peers, sometimes referred to as ‘Generation Y’, to be outstanding young Americans. Leadership is a combination of technical knowledge and communication skills. “Earth’s great treasure lies in human personality” and it will be my greatest honor to fill the world with treasures.
I was born and raised in Hawaii. For recreation I like to play video games, surf, play volleyball, and watch football. One of the most relaxing activities would have to be reading a book at the beach in the winter knowing that most of the country is covered in snow. Addicted to YouTube sometimes, at least when it’s something funny. If you want to know anything else just add me on Facebook!
Anthony Higa BSN, RN
President, Rising Phoenix Jaycees
