HAWAII JAYCEES STATEMENT ON PASSING OF MURRAY LUTHER
Hawaii Jaycees State President Stan Fichtman issued the following
statement today regarding the death of Murray Luther on March 22.
“It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of longtime
supporter of the Hawaii Jaycees Mr. Murray Luther. Murray was a beloved
civic leader who became the face of Hawaii Kai through his constant
support and dedication to the community. His work includes being involved
with Jaycees both in Washington State and in Hawaii, along with his 41
years of dedication to the Lions Club of Honolulu.”
“Murray, though will be most remembered for spearheading the campaign to
replace the sign at the entrance to Hawaii Kai. The original sign was taken
down when they widened the highway, and he spent years campaigning to
have it replaced. It now stands as a proud memorial to Murray Luther’s
dedication and persistence.”
“On behalf of all the members of the Hawaii Jaycees, we extend our
condolences to Murray’s family, and offer our prayers, thoughts and
sympathies during this time of loss.”
